Kathy Rivera, case manager at Lake Forest Nursing Center in Lake Forest, California, paid out of her own pocket for a resident’s wife, who was homeless, to stay in a hotel for several days. She even went so far as to buy her food.

Roy De Leon, assistant director of rehab at Lake Forest Nursing Center in Lake Forest, California, soothed a patient who was in a lot of pain. De Leon calmed her by singing a Gregorian chant, and she felt better and was able to make progress in therapy.

On Dec. 4, 2015, The Burnt Truck, a gourmet food truck company, rolled up to Lake Forest Nursing Center in Lake Forest, California, as a treat to thank associates for their hard work. 

Staff members from all departments partook of a variety of sliders, from fried chicken to peanut butter and jelly, to mozzarella to beef. Rosie Velasco, executive director, arranged for the food truck as a way to recognize the team.
