Barbara London, a resident at Lake Forest Nursing Center, a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility, recently had her artwork featured on a Christmas card.
Each year, Life Care Centers of America invites residents in more than 200 nursing and rehab facilities to submit Christmas card designs, and one piece is chosen for each of the organization’s geographical divisions. A total of eight designs are printed and distributed to facilities and regional offices throughout Life Care.
London’s drawing of a Christmas candle is one of this year’s winners.
“My inspiration to draw the candle was that Jesus is the light of the world,” said London.
In college, London worked on a program developing solar-powered vehicles. She went on to work with developmentally disabled adults in a group home and then as a job coach. She has three children and enjoys painting, making jewelry, carving wood and reading.
“When I found out that I won, I was shocked at first,” said London. “Then I became excited! It really is an honor for me to win this.”
